Who we are!
Pony Tales Refuge & Rehab, Inc. is a Wisconsin Non-Stock Corporation and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We hold regular board meetings regarding fundraising, how funds will be spent, reviewing adoption applications, and discuss new opportunities, among other things. No one receives a salary or compensation for their duties. 100% of the funds we receive go directly to the care and welfare of the rescues.
Pony Tales Refuge & Rehab, Inc. is dedicated to rescuing equines of all kinds from abuse, neglect, abandonment and slaughter. We provide them with a safe, loving home during recovery and rehabilitation while providing food, shelter, medical care, nurturing and training. We select the horses we rescue based on need and future quality of life, with the ultimate goal of finding them forever homes. We also take in horses in any condition due to situations of abuse, neglect and abandonment. We also provide a refuge for equines that are too mentally and/or physically traumatized to ever be adopted, as well as a comfortable, loving home for elderly horses to live out their final days in peace.
At Pony Tales Refuge & Rehab, Inc., we believe it is the responsibility of every horse owner to breed and geld responsibly. The number of horses in this country going to slaughter and/or living in deplorable conditions is unacceptable. We are committed to informing and educating the community, with an emphasis on the youth, about the problems associated with over-breeding and irresponsible breeding of horses and to teach responsible horse ownership. We believe that it is imperative that the youth learn about the realities and atrocities that exist in the horse world. It is only through the youth that we have a chance of improving the lives of all equines in the future.
Pony Tales Refuge & Rehab, Inc. is located in west-central Wisconsin at 4398 130th Avenue, Colfax, Wisconsin 54730.
Please note that we are open to the public by appointment only. This is a private residence and the location of a Director's home business.
Walk-ins will not be granted access to or viewing of the rescues.
Thank you for respecting our privacy!
With the overwhelming number of horses in this country that need help, it is imperative that rescues and equine welfare organizations work together. We may be many, but we are one. All with the same goal: to change the world so that one day there is only one final rescue left to do. As such, we are proud to partner and work with the following organizations:
Kentucky Humane Society - nurse mare orphan foals
Horse Plus Humane Society - 1-Day Shelter
