First-time Horseowners Program

#Hoofprintstohomes #HelpAHorse

New to Horses?

  •  Have you always loved horses and wished you had one of your own?

  • Do you see friends going on trail rides all summer long while you sit at home, longing to ride with them, or just see people out riding and wish it was you?

  • Do you think you want to have a horse, but just don’t know enough about them to take that leap?

  • Do you see frightening stories on social media of people purchasing horses that are way out of their league?

  • Are your children nagging you for a horse, but you are afraid it is just a phase? And/or that you’ll end up doing all of the work?

If you answered Yes to any of these questions, then our First-time Horse-owners Program may be just what you’ve been looking for!

First Time Horse Owners Class

Friday/Saturday Class

How it works:

1. Fill out the First-time Horse-owner Application below. In this Program we will teach you everything you need to know about owning, handling, housing, and caring for horses.  Upon successful completion of the First-time Horse-owners Program, you will be pre-approved to enter our #Hoofprintstohomes Program where you can foster one of our sweet rescues for a period of 6 months.  During this time period, we will be with you every step of the way.  We will assist you with anything you need without judgment.  We are here to teach you, not judge you.  We will not, however, assist you financially. You will be responsible for any and all expenses associated with the care and maintenance of the horse.

2. If at the end of the 6 month period, you are confident that horse ownership is for you and we are confident of the same, you can then apply to adopt the horse. Alternatively, if you feel that horse ownership is still for you, but the horse you have may not be quite the right fit, you can bring the horse back and try another one and begin another 6 month foster period.

*Due to lack of horse experience, only our trained horses are eligible for this program.  However,  if you have your heart set on a young horse or a nurse mare orphan foal, you may still be eligible to qualify for the #Hoofprintstohomes Program.  If this is where you find yourself, please email us at for more information.

The classes can be taken in combination to the Commit To Adopt and Foster to Adopt Programs as well.

Cost: $20 per person, minimum of 5 people, will include snacks and beverages during sessions.
